Outbreak of HFMD in school!
I heaved a sign of relief as Lia was unharmed in this outbreak.
7th February (Wed): Kept Lia home due to redness at diaper area (YET AGAIN! - It is time for some intensive potty training!) and also, she is still having phlegmy cough and a runny nose.
8th February (Thur): Lia's form teacher called to inform that there were two cases of HFMD in school. Students whom got it were from a different class but they did use the same computer lab! Was told to monitor and keep Lia at home, if possible, till next week or so. Yes, I kept my baby at home and that gave me a chance to continue with her potty training. =)
12 February (Mon): Had to send Lia back to school because I had a facial appointment in the morning and some errands to run in the noon. Upon reaching school, was told that the HFMD cases had increased to ten! Called James and discussed and he told me to take Lia out and leave her with my mother-in-law instead.
14 February (Wed): Lia was still having phlegmy cough, got worried and decided to bring her to the GP at our neighbouring void deck. Was given antibiotics as Lia had been coughing for like two weeks.
15 February (Thur): Called Lia's school to check on situation, HFMD cases remained at twenty-four cases since Tue. (OMG! Twenty-four cases!) -_-"
16 February (Fri): Lia's form teacher called to update me on the situation. The HFMD cases rose to twenty-six and six of them were Lia's classmates! Panic! Teacher also told me it all began with the common cough and runny nose! Double panic! Lia had been having cough and runny nose for two weeks already! I had already dropped Lia off at my sister-in-law's house as I had to go for my haircut and I had forgotten to get the GP to check Lia for the symptoms yesterday. Am really worried that she'd be infected as well and also, my SIL has four kids, what if Lia's infected (Touch wood!) and in turn infected them (Touch wood!)?! Quickly called James and we both agreed that Lia should go in to the GP's for another check, which SIL promptly helped us brought her in. Luckily, Lia is fine for now. Doctor says to monitor for the next seven days and the symptoms are: red dots; three nos. and above on each palm and foot, multiple ulcers in mouth, feverish and kid being lethargic.
Keeping my fingers crossed!
