Lia's first ever dental visit!
Lia and I, we visited the dentist yesterday! It was the baby's very first visit and I should say it went pretty well. We had spoken on this subject before, I'd read her a book on it, and dentist was also included in her flashcards under the occupations category.
I was still a little anxious that Lia would get cold feet last minute, but she was fine and nonchalantly climbed onto the dentist chair when she heard me told Mr Dentist that she'd go first. (We discussed and she said she'd go first herself!) She even asked if she should take off her shoes. She was good when Mr Dentist checked her teeth...
But she became slightly traumatised when the polishing began. Mr Dentist had demonstrated the polishing on her fingernail before starting, but I guess it was too much for the little one to bear when the real polishing began right on her teeth!
Mr Dentist successfully polished the front of her teeth, top and bottom, but after a while, Lia started fidgeting. She bear with it initially, but when it was time for the inside and molars, Lia refused to open her mouth. She clamped her teeth tight, and Mr Dentist had to put the polisher down and resume to checking her teeth. Mr Dentist and Ms Assistant tried to pacify Lia but the little one refused to budge and kept shaking her head whenever Mr Dentist brooch the subject of polishing the insides. They decided not to put pressure on the little one and she was done! Well, at least, she now has two rows of nicely-polished-on-the-front teeth! :D
