Our baby turned 18 months!
How time flies, she's now 1.5 years old, and not 1.5 months! Come to think, I was struggling like mad at that time! Those days were crazy and I could just drop dead! With that, let me try blog on some of her more prominent developments!
Tantrums.
This is an inborn trait (or probably I should say it's hereditary and thus that goes on and on for every kid in the family). She needs no teaching at all when it comes to displaying her displease, often to the expense of pretending to fall onto the ground. And, she has to roll around a bit, with lots of whining followed by some fake crying, and her cunning little eyes are peeping at you each and every moment to see if you would succumb to her ways.
Here is an example...
The scene:
I was kneeling (don't ask why) in front of the computer trying to check out some stuffs, Lia came over and tried to crawl onto me for a milk fix. I refused as the position's too uncomfortable and promptly got up, telling her no, not now... She got upset and started the drama...
Self feeding.
I have left her to it, all by herself. Thanks to the Superman spoon! Haha!
But it is still messy... Clean ups? Not so much of a hassle, its a routine now! And that takes away some stress when it comes to having lunch in school...
Teething
Ermm, my little one is a little slower then her peers in this area. She has just 8 teeth, 5 on top and 3 below, her right lateral incisor had only cut through a while ago.
Talking
Ermm, another area which the little one is slower in achieving. She has yet call me, but is calling James. The way she says papa is rather cute, she says it as "bah-bah", with the second "bah" higher pitched than the first. And at times, she can be a little off pitched too! She says dak (duck), sked (scared), dan-ki (thank you), bad (bread), por (pear), a-bah (apple), sss (cheese) and some one time words which she repeats after me and which I cannot recall now.
She loves oranges.
When she sees that we've finished dinner, she'd go to the refrigerator and do a show (drama) on trying to open the fruits/vegetables compartment. By then, either James or myself would have noticed and would go help her. And she is doing a rather good job scraping them clean instead of doing this in the past.
And waterbottles, she simply loves to drink from a straw/sprout now. (She went the other way round!)
She saw me trying out this Avent sippy cup and wanted it immediately. She had to hold on to it while she ate her dinner.
She understands us mostly and knows if we're talking about her. Just that day, I was telling James on how she nuahs on the stool and upon hearing us, she got up to fetch her stool and proceeded to redo the scene! I'd usually narrate Lia's funny dos to James and Lia'd giggle and do some fake laughter when she hears us talking about her actions.
She know exactly our daily routines, and knows where things should go. If she sees me coming into the living room with fruits, she'd trot up to the coffee table quickly, and tap her hand on it, showing me to put it down "here". If the coffee table is being kept under the TV console, she'd try drag it out. When James returns from dumping the rubbish, Lia (as she'd be waiting at the gate, most of the times) would do the "come back in" gesture and excitedly point to the area where he should leave his slippers. She imitates me when I am dressing up, and she bends forward when she sees me taking my bra. She'd open this drawer that has a pink kiddy brush kept, take it out and perform the same when she sees me brushing my hair. She stares in disbelief when she sees me curling my eyelashes, but when she's left on her own, she'd rummage in my comestic pouch and bring the eyelash curler to her eyes.
She knows some of her body parts, I taught her part of it and a few came about from our daily routines. I taught her 'nose', 'eyes', 'ears', 'head', 'hand' and 'belly button'. Wherelse 'mouth', 'bum', 'private part' and 'foot' came about from our daily routines. =)
HairYes, this is the amount of hair she is having now, at 18 months... Her last shave was way back, when she turned 4 months old. Pathetic... =(
Finally, my little baby would be attending child care soon and I will return to the workforce. I am having mixed, funny feelings now, keeping my fingers crossed that things will turn out fine. Counting down to the days...........
