Egg and cheese toast
This is one rare morning when I wake up early to prepare breakfast for James. On normal days, my husband goes off to work early, like 6ish (Saturdays and Sundays too) and we rarely get a chance to eat breakfast together. I loved sleeping in, but today, I made it, egg and cheese toast, and breakfast for James. The original recipe can be found here. :)
You need:
A thick slice of bread (I used Breadtalk's)
A small egg
A slice of cheese
Some butter
Black pepper and dried herbs (I used dried parsley) to taste
Oven or toaster
A knife
Steps:
Lay the bread on the baking tray and have the cheese placed in the centre of the bread. Make a square cut around the outside of the cheese without cutting through the bread. Remove cheese and using your fingers (or spoon), press and flatten the bread in the middle, following the square. Then, lay the cheese back onto the bread and place an egg on it. Spread some butter on the side of the bread to prevent it from browning tooo early. Bake until the egg has set and top if off with some black pepper and dried herbs.
James suggested me to add a slice of ham for some bite and I'm gonna do that the next time!
