The search is on!
Before I start the drama, let me inform you guys that my first stop on my search for the perfect child centre, is to Kinderland.
I have already spoken to my father-in-law and it has been confirmed that, Lia would go to a child care centre when she reaches 18 months old. But well, things weren't as what I have planned earlier on, or rather, I could never outtalk my father-in-law and Lia, she would be going for the afternoon session instead of the morning one. Father-in-law gave comments on the child care centre I've shortlist and he also made a good point. Lia can get to sleep in late if she attends the afternoon session. Yes, I do agree on this, but another not so good factor here; I will not have time to cook our dinner.
The scenario is this: I will knock off at 6pm, I might need to chase after or wait longer for the bus in order to reach Lia at 6.45pm or 7pm? After picking her up, I might have to chase after or again, wait longer, PLUS, squeeze onto the bus again and reach home at 7.15pm or even later? Though Kinderland is just a few bus stops away from our place, but considering the time and location of the school, I am expected to face office/factory going-home-crowds. *Sign...
Father-in-law had suggested that I send Lia to the child care centre which Lia's cousins attended, and which is nearer to my in-laws' house, like 8 minutes brisk walk? And that we can then pop by (everyday) for dinner before heading back home.
"Like that is more convenient..." father-in-law said...
You see, my in-laws house is suitated in the "middle" of our own place and Kinderland. I don't think I can ever comply to this arrangement as it seemed too tiring. Just imagine, we have to yet take a bus back home after dinner at in-laws' house, so what time will it be when we get home? And furthermore, I am more comfortable with Kinderland, for now. I will try to bring this up tactfully should father-in-law and I have a discussion again.
Okay, now for some pictures I took during the school tour...
The administrative building of Kinderland Educare Services Pte Ltd, Yio Chu Kang branch, a pre school and child care centre. I later realised that the classrooms are to the left of the building...
The canteen whereby food is prepared for the children. I ate my lunch there, food's not really nice, and the stir fry soya sauce chicken was too salty! I hope they don't serve the same food to the kids!
Children's public toilet. Rather run-down and not impressive at all... -_-"
There is a splash pool... But, not really impressive also leh...
The playground for Lia's age group...
Later when I was back at the reception area... I had to hang around and wait as it was nap time for the kids, I wanted to visit their classroom and so had to wait until nap time is over...
The principal for child care is a lanky lady!
Lia was trottering around the reception area the whole time! I was jotting some notes and having to keep an eye on her at the same time, I did not managed to take pictures of that... Well she had fun indeed, greeting passer-by with her cheeky grin!
Lia had endless fun there and her nap time was long overdue. It was when I called her back for milk, that she managed to shut her eyes, after nursing...
I am overall okay with Kinderland, though the place wasn't exactly sparkling... The classrooms are air-conditioned; good for our climate but not good when one kid falls sick, virus are easily spread among then. The pros and cons in life, we can never get away from it...
However, there is one thing which I am concern of: why do the kids change in the open? I mean in the open in their classroom, not openly outside. There wasn't any changing area as I had expected, nor a simple curtain to draw to hide one's naked body while changing. I know they are just kids, but still, kids need to be taught on how to protect their own body right? Especially girls! I emailed the principal yesterday asking for her views, let's see what her reply is...
I am planning to visit MMI later, Sengkang branch. But it is the open house of a new school and there ain't any students yet, I guess there won't be much for me to dig...
