Chicken pox vaccination

"So... How is her weight and growth and all?"

"...Her weight's good enough! She's just not big, it's fine..."

This is the exact reply, that flew out from the mouth of the wonderful man. With that, the mommy, beamed in delight... :)

This wonderful man is Doctor Ngiam Thye Eng. Lia's pediatrician from the Singapore Baby and Child Clinic. For a paranoid-scaredy-cat mommy, his words definately made my day... I am constantly concerned about Lia's growth as she is really petite, now at 15 months and 25 days, she weighs just 8.4 kg... She has tripled her birth weight but then, kids her age (and even younger) weighs much more! Well, I am taking it that Lia has got a high metabolic rate just like me, and that, is a great blessing indeed! ;)

I went in with plans of getting an MMR jab for the little one but Doctor Ngiam had suggested the chicken pox vaccination instead. He said that there are no measles in Singapore now and unless we travel overseas frequently, there is no hurry for the MMR jab. He then rescheduled Lia's vaccinations as follows:

May 2006 (Lia @ 16 months) : Pneumonia #1 (Doctor Ngiam said this is VERY important)
June 2006 (17 months): MMR
July 2006 (18 months): Pneumonia #2

August 2006 (19 months): Booster DPT

Doctor Vanessa Tan from KidsLink Children's Clinic did "promote" the Pneumonia vaccination to me before but I had promptly forgotten about it. Cyn brought it up again recently but I had dismiss it because it is too expensive. It costs S$ 168.00 for a jab and there is a total of 2, 3 injections to go for in the whole course. And what happens when the wonderful man suggests it? The mommy, obliged! I can't say for the rest of the doctors but when Doctor Ngiam took charge in here, I don't feel any resentment at all. I gladly obliged to his suggestions and had proceeded to book for Lia her Pneumonia vaccination.

Happy Easter!

On the same morning before Lia, I went in to Doctor Lee's for a pap smear and Iris, Doctor Lee's assistant gave this to Lia... A pink egg filled with chocolates! So sweet!
