Duck, Scared & Cat
Lia is a late talker and until now, at 15 months and 22 days, she has not properly addressed us yet. I am a little worried but as she is very receptive to things around her, I often comfort myself that she is just a late talker and is definately not suffering from anything else. This little one has gotten pretty helpful around the house, she understands our instructions and we get her to help with stuffs around the house often. Some of which are for her own, whilst the others, are for us the pair of lazy parents! Hiak!
She has started on blabbering "mom-mom-mom-mom" when she wants her milk fix badly and I don't know where that came from. I have never used "mom-mom" in describing food to her. I addressed all her foods by the proper names, milk would be milk and and water would be water, and not anything else. Or maybe, it came from my parents and someone else around? Lia must have heard the words many times and thus, she had captured it inside her?
Duck
Okay, back to her talking. I think she has started identifying ducks and started speaking the word, she sounded like "dak" and sometimes "det" and she would be pointing to it and looking back at me waiting for my acknowledgements. Her changing mat has got duck cartoons, she has a pair of long pants with another duck cartoon and lastly, she has a rubber duckie whom took baths with her.
Scared
Lia is afraid of the thunder. There was this once when she was with me in the bathroom and it had started drizzling. A stroke of thunder later on had scared the little one out of her wits! She started crying loudly whilst resenting the shock and clung on to me tightly after I scoped her into my arms. It was then she started saying "kad", and she would pat her chest at the same time. From that incident on, she would be doing this whenever she's scared, pat her chest saying "kad ahh..." (The "ahh", she must have got it from us -_-")
Cat
After a few meetings with the stray cats below our block, and with my introduction, Lia started saying "kad". It may sound the same as scared, but her tone is different. Lia sounded much more excited when she says cat. =) She would be pointing to it whenever she spots one, whilst looking up at me waiting for my acknowledgements again.
I am still waiting, patiently waiting for the big day to arrive when Lia would finally call "mommy"...
