Growing Up Gifted
Trial class at Growing Up Gifted...
On our way there...
She wants to stand and I couldn't make her sit. So, I decided to belt her up!
Arrived early and had our lunch at Globetrotters Restaurant. Globetrotters is a very child friendly restaurant and La Leche League has got socializing sessions there too!
A server came up with the cute froggie bib for Lia, and kiddy utensils & cutlery too...
I ordered a S$ 11.90++ value set lunch which consisted of a drink - I chose homemade barley, an appetizer - I chose Spanish omelette, main course - I chose Mushrooms Alio Oligo, and dessert - I chose fresh fruits but there wasn't enough time and I had to forgo it...
Our classroom, room B, it is a very comfortable size...
The name tag was our project for the day, I made most of it but still, I am glad that there is something to take home to show Daddee...
Verdict: First thing, the duration of the class is too long, it lasted 1.5 hours, though the first 15 minutes were some sort of a free play with the toys they laid out, but towards the end, Lia was tired and cranky, and kept tugging at my top for her milk fix. There were eight pairs of mommies/caregivers (maid) and kiddos and we sat in a circle. Most of the kids were around Lia's age but there was one or two younger ones. We had two main (English) teachers in the class and in admist, a Chinese teacher came in and took over for about 15 minutes. Lia was curious about the singing, actions and all. On a few occasions, she went right up to the front of the teachers for a clearer view! She was grinning and participated quite a fair bit for the start, but she wasn't comfortable with the Chinese teacher; maybe her singing was too loud and Lia, she came back to me and clung on just refusing to look at her. Towards half of the class, Lia started exploring the classroom (she's not the only one), she dragged out a kiddy chair and sat on it in the opposite way - on purpose, she went over to my bag and pointed it out to me, tried to drag it as well but I stopped her. I had to go grab her back to join the group several times, and when class ended, I was the one whom got really exhausted!
Though the duration's too long for me to bear, but I am rather pleased with the curriculum because apart from the usual singing/dancing, there is also a "confidence builder" segment whereby the kids do some kind of an obstacle course with our help, and they have "interactive projects" which includes painting and stuffs, like the name tag we've made. James has agreed for the little one to go for the classes, I have chosen the twice a week schedule and a term will last around 8 weeks, costing S$ 537.60 nett. I have heard that there are no make-up classes should we be absent and the long waiting list, I don't know about the suitation now, got to call them up tomorrow.
