Three alternate days
James and I we couldn't believe it ourselves. Three trips to KK Hospital since last Saturday on every alternate day. Lia's rashes as I had mentioned in my previous entry had spread and it looked very scary. James didn't feel good about it too and come evening, we decided to head down to KKH again for an assurance. My father-in-law was in the vicinity and he dropped by to check on Lia. He said it was, "piah (hokkien word)" and told us it could be serious and Lia might need to be hospitalised! I didn't know what "piah" was but it sounded so serious and I nearly burst into tears upon hearing him. It was only later when we were in the cab that the driver (he overheard us talking) told us "piah" means measles. I calmed down a little for Lia have had her MMR vaccine, and it could be a case of fake measles, the driver told us. The little one could sense our tension and she remained quiet on our way there.
Same thing, doc asked the questions, and did a thorough check on Lia. He said Lia's condition seemed to be very viral-caused, for she has had her MMR and there is a very rare possibility measles would strike. He commanded a blood test to be sure as he wanted to check on Lia red/white blood cells and he wanted to be sure it wasn't Dengue Fever either. Lia yelled her head off when the nurse was taking her blood and we had a hard time holding on to her.
Results came back normal, and we heaved a sign of relief. But we still got to continue monitoring her closely, if her fever comes back and is higher than her last taken high temperature, we ought to bring her in. And if Lia complains of severe tummyache (a sign of Dengue Fever) and seemed abnormal in her behaviours, we ought to bring her in as soon too. I pray for none of these to happen. It was around 1130pm and we didn't wanna join the long queue at the dispensary. Bought a bottle of Calamine lotion off the shelf and scooted home.
So this month, James and myself, our pockets were burnt. Trip to PD (Spore Baby & Child): S$ 100. KKH trips: S$ 100 x 4, including taxi fare (one more trip there earlier this month when Lia got a splinter in her thumb and GP couldn't take it out) Oh well, we can always mend burnt pocket or even get new bottoms with new pockets, but the health of our precious, priceless and irreplaceable.

Hi Gene, reading what happened to Lia made my heart ache. Hope she is much better now tho' I also suspected measles due to the high fever over few days.
Glad that the doc said it's not but pls continue to monitor her. I know this is tough.. This in fact is one of the toughest when our children fall sick esp fever and rashes.
Take care. Rest more, for Lia needs you. And you have done a great job for Lia by caring for her.
Gene, I am unable to help, but if the fever persist, maybe you wana just bring her to a chinese physician?
Are the rashes caused by the meds she took previously? Could it be an allergy reaction?
Really hope that Lia will get well soon! You gotta take good care of yourself too! *hug*
