Splinters

See that two black specks on the tissue paper? The light browns are Lia's blood stains, which came about when I tried to remove the splinter.

Lia was playing in my mother-in-law's garden last Sunday when I supposed she fell from her tricycle, and her palm went down onto some plant in amidst of supporting herself from the fall. From that, she got a few black pricks on her palm, which we assumed were thorns. James and I we already took out two on the spot, but there were two left embedded in her fingers - ring finger and her pinkie.

After much coaxing today, Lia agreed that I could try remove those two remaining splinters on the condition I'd turn on the TV for some cartoons. I was slow and careful, and had to switch between the two fingers for Lia would complain of pain and I'd quickly say I'm moving on to the next before she had a chance to escape. I trimmed the surface skin, and worked my way to reach those tiny splinters. I only managed to remove one, which was embedded in her pinkie.

By then she was bleeding very lightly, due to the tiny cuts I've made, and though she still had one equally tiny splinter left in her fourth finger, she just wouldn't let me continue with it. She's yelling at every tiny bit of blood oozing from her tiny wounds, and not even cartoons could make her sit her me this time. I got to try harder tomorrow.
